Genre : Romance

Overview :

  • Enemies to lovers

  • Small town romance

  • Slow burn

Plot :

This book is about Nora, a literary agent who lives in New York, but she dragged to Sunshine Falls by her sister Libby for a month long trip. When she is away she keeps bumping into Charlie, a book editor that she knows from New York. While Nora is distracted by Charlie, she begins to discover that her sister might be hiding something from her as things start to feel a little off. Nora begins to realise that her girls getaway might be a bit more complicated than she'd expected...

My review (spoilers) :

I liked this book however I really struggled to relate to the characters. Nora is so focused on work and lives in a large city which is the complete opposite to me, I didn't dislike her character, I just couldn't relate to her in any way. I think I gradually got to like her character as the book went on. However she was a strong, independent female character and I can definitely appreciate that!

Charlie on the other hand, I liked him. I think again, it takes time to warm up to his character because at first he comes across as a grump but I really liked his character development.

I honestly think the only character that I instantly loved was Libby. She always seemed so positive and a bit more up beat than Nora and I really like that in character.

I loved the fact that it's set in a small idyllic town, I think I'm always going to love these types of books, it makes me feel so warm - especially if I'm reading it on a nice summers evening. I also liked that there wasn't too much spice, there is some spice but it doesn't take over the whole storyline like other books do and I liked how there was more to the plot than just sex.

Overall I didn't hate the book but I didn't love it. It was okay but it just didn't seem that exciting in comparison to the other books that I had read. It's a slow burn but if you want a nice romance to read then I would pick this book up. It's a nice easy read, this was my first book that I had read by Emily Henry, although I only gave it 3 stars I would still purchase more of her books because I know that I'll be able to pick it up and completely unwind with an easy going storyline.

"If I had to pick one person to be in my corner, it'd be you. Every time."

Thanks for reading,

Phoebe
