Door Mouse Pod

Key features:

  • Suitable for 2 people

  • Dog friendly

  • Hot-tub

  • Wifi

  • On site parking

Finishing the year off right! We stayed in the Door Mouse Pod, it is the smallest lodge on site but it was perfect for 3 nights away. The location of the lodges are in Cannington, Somerset.

The pod itself was really cosy and they had put a few Christmas decorations up, that was a nice touch! The only down side to this lodge was that there wasn't an oven, I know you don't necessarily need an oven but I think if we had stayed longer than 3 nights we would've struggled for meal ideas. The pod was extremely clean and comfortable and had an enclosed decking area where the hot tub was so Ivy could go out when she needed to. Although his lodge was the smallest that we had stayed in, it didn't affect us in the slightest and it's still one of my favourite places that we have been so far!

The location is perfect for exploring, there are plenty of walks around the local area and on site. We went on a few 30 minute walks around the site and it was lovely. But again, if you wanted to venture out a bit further there was plenty of choice. The site was so peaceful, it honestly felt like we were miles and miles from everyone.

The images below is the pod - so cute!

Places to visit:

Quantock Hills AONB

We were only at Henfields for 3 nights (a day of that was raining all day so we only ventured out over two days). The place were we decided to go was the Quantock Hills, from what I remember it wasn't a long drive and it was absolutely stunning.

The Quantock Hills is a huge area to explore, perfect for taking your dogs or just going with your family. There are plenty of different places to park in the area so as soon as we parked up we were amazed by the views. I can imagine in summer the views would be beautiful however even in December we were really impressed! We spotted wild ponies on our walk - I couldn't catch a photo of them as they were quite far away so I was gutted! There are also many different signed paths that you can follow, some are longer than others so you can walk for as far as you would like to.

We came here twice as there was so much to explore and free parking so this was actually the only place we travelled to while staying at Henfields, but I have listed other options to explore near by this retreat as there are many to choose from.

Other options to explore near Henfields -

  • Bridgewater Bay National Nature Reserve

  • Kings Cliff - National Forest

  • Ramscombe Great Wood

  • The Drove - National Trust

  • Wembdon Parklands

  • Cothelstone Hill
