The Sheperds Hut at West Farleigh is located in Bickleigh. It is in Devon, UK. It is a private and peaceful location at the end of a farm lane. What I loved about this location is that you can go for a walk around the lodges, there is a small play area if you are taking children. The owners show where you can walk within their property creating an ideal dog walk that leads back to your lodge.

The lodge itself is actually split into 3 different rooms. So, you have the small shepherds hut which only has the bed and bedside tables in. Then the wooden lodge, there is a comfy sofa with a TV/DVD, also a kitchen area with an oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and a breakfast bar area to sit and enjoy your meals. The toilet is also in a separate room meaning you have to go outside to get to each room. At times this was a pain, for example if you wanted to go to the toilet at night, you would have to go outside to get to the toilet, but this wouldn't put me off going again. The lodge was lovely and clean and they even left us a bottle of champagne to enjoy for our week ahead.

I sadly didn't take many pictures of the inside of the lodge but the pictures below are where we walked around the lodges within the private property. The area was really nice, walking past a small lake, wooded areas and many fields.

Places to visit :

Sadly throughout our time here I was suffering with a really bad migraine. This resulted in far less adventures than we wanted, but this didn't affect how much we enjoyed our stay here. There were so many places to visit around the area, we only managed to visit one but I will list some nearby local walks if you are interested (they are roughly a 20-30 minute drive away from the lodge).

Danes Wood - National Trust

We tend to pick the local National Trust walks when we go away, they are so beautiful and we know that they will be suitable to take dogs. The walk was mostly in wooded areas but we didn't mind that, it was just nice to try and get out even though my head was still throbbing. We met lots of friendly dog walkers there, we were there for around an hour but again, you could definitely go on for longer or cut your walk shorter depending on your preference. Below are a few pictures from this walk.
