I want to start sharing our UK getaways as we love exploring different areas within the UK - I am terrified of flying so going abroad isn't an option at the minute...

Our first UK holiday was in Wareham, Dorset. It truly has everything that you would need. There are plenty of local walks from your doorstep which we went on in the first couple of days. There was a dog friendly pub within 5 minutes of where we were staying so this was really nice to pop into while we had our dog Ivy with us.

The lodge itself was very spacious and had a small enclosed decking area so Ivy could go out as and when she wanted to. It had a fully fitted kitchen and dishwasher which is a bonus. It also had a shower AND bath which was perfect as I love a good bath and relax. It's probably the largest lodge that we've visited so far (Ivy defiantly enjoyed exploring it) so any size dog would be suitable.

The photos below show the view from our hot-tub and decking area, as you can see it is very private and the views are stunning. Also I had to include Ivy with her little suitcase - this pack was given to us with our lodge key and some information about the area, it was very helpful!

Places to visit :

RSPB Arne

My favourite day was when we visited RSPB Arne. It was a beautiful day and I remember the weather being amazing. The views were incredible, it made us feel like we were on holiday abroad. I'm so glad I took my camera to capture it all.

I 100% recommend this National Trust spot if you are in the area, the trails are easy to follow and they have different length walks depending on how long you want to stay or how far you want to walk. I think we were there for around 2 hours and it was enough to enjoy all of the wildlife and scenery. It is free entry however I do remember having to pay for parking, I think it was around £5.

Lulworth Cove

We also visited Lulworth Cove and this was lovely. We didn't actually visit the town area ,we just walked along the coastal path. The town is worth going to if you travel there but we have previously been there before so we skipped that bit as it was also rather busy.

Walking along the south coast was really nice, Ivy met some dogs on our walk and of course barked at them - if anyone has a dachshund I'm sure they would understand! She also had some dog ice cream which she devoured as quickly as she could. This coastal path is very long but you can walk as far as you want to, we were there for around 2 hours but after that Ivy was getting tired so we headed back to our lodge but you could definitely make a day of it - if it's a warm day you could go to the beach!

Thanks for reading,

Phoebe
